Bray Jazz Festival 2017
Bray Jazz Festival returns for it's 18th year on the upcoming May Bank Holiday weekend (Fri 28th April - Mon 1st May)
The festival enjoys a reputation for showcasing contemporary musical improvisers from both at home and abroad, and this year will be no exception. Events take place at various pubs thoughout the town and the athmosphere is great, with a friendly and entusiastic crowd of Jazz lovers appreciative of an event which has given them the opportunity to enjoy quality performers from as far afield as the United States, Brazil, Cuba, Iceland and Senegal in action over just a few days. While Bray Jazz is 'boutique' in scale they are proud to have hosted some of the very finest creators and composers working in contemporary music today.
Billed as "one of the very best small jazz festivals in Europe" (All About Jazz) and as "the connoisseur's jazz festival" (The Irish Times), their event was also described last year as "a little gem" by The Sunday Independent's Arts Editor.
This year The Martello will host live music in the bar throughout the weekend as part of the Wicklow Wolf Jazz trail.
